Will A System Restore Clear A Computer Virus?

Okay you know you have a virus.  You know you have one because your PC acts in so many strange ways and that could be the only possible reason why your PC boots up unintentionally, why if you’re working in a WORD document that you can’t save it.  Whatever the strange reason is you can safely conclude that there is a virus on your system.

What can you do about?Of course run your antivirus software.  The problem here is that by the time you noticed these strange occurrences the virus has already been imbedded and your antivirus software program may not have had a chance to protect you because you didn’t download the latest patches.

Or worse yet, you don’t have a antivirus software program at all.

So you think you’re smart and then you think of running a system restore to a previous point where your computer ran without incidence.  Restoring your PC in this manner will not necessarily rid you of the virus.  That malicious script may be imbedded in files that a system restore does not restore.  There are so many places that these scripts can hide that it’s impossible to pinpoint where it is.

So the answer to the question if a system restore will clear your computer of a computer virus?  No, it won’t.  That’s why it’s important to keep your PC protected with the latest antivirus software.
