Where Do Computer Viruses Come From And Why Does It Happen?

Can you imagine that people are still asking this age old question?  Where do computer viruses come from and why does it happen?  Well it’s back to the basics here because the mark of a person with knowledge is one who knows the basics.

Because of the power and the range of our computers and less and less reliance on floppy disks the mass of computer viruses come from…downloads.  Yes downloads from the internet whether it’s from ads, freeshare or by email most of the computer viruses come from the internet.  In days not so long ago one could contract a computer virus by floppy disks but since most of us are wise to the floppy disk syndrome and also it is so easy to scan a floppy disk for malicious scripts the computer virus from a floppy is all but gone.

As far as who creates these viruses?  Any number of people.  People who have expertise in writing scripts that want to make a statement to the world that they are the best programmer.  Or by a disgruntled ex-employee of a marketing firm set out to prove that it was a mistake letting him or her go.

Whatever the reason is these people exist and it’s your duty to keep your PC up to date with the latest antivirus software to stop them cold in their tracks.
